Residents to get plugged into tourism industry
Bermuda residents will be receiving a little something extra with their next electricity bill.
The Visitor Industry Partnership and the Bermuda Electric Light Company are sending out VIP information cards to help the public brush-up on their knowledge of tourism.
The card was developed as a handy reference guide of important facts about the Island's tourism industry.
Belco will distribute the cards to all households that have an electricity account throughout this month.
Belco's manager of customer services, David Furtado, said this was the first time the company had allowed a third party to use their billing system.
"The company supports anything that enhances the future of Bermuda and the tourism industry does that,'' Mr. Furtado said.
And a special contest will be held next month to test how much the public has learned about the tourism industry.
Power 95 and ZBM Channel 3 announcers will be asking questions relating to the information card as well as other industry topics.
Anyone will be able to call the station and those who answer correctly could win dining prizes and will become eligible to win the grand prize of long weekends for two at local hotels.
The contest will run from May 12 through May 24.
