Everest Re has named former Argo chief underwriting officer (CUO) Andrew Carrier as general manager of its European operations.

The executive also takes on the role of president of Everest Advisors, UK, at the Bermuda-headquartered reinsurer, which he will officially join on November 3.

A press release announcing the move stated that Mr Carrier had been Argo Group’s chief underwriting officer since January 2011. It said: “Prior to joining Argo in 2007, Andrew served with Kiln for 23 years and is a widely respected member of the international insurance and reinsurance sectors. Andrew is a graduate from St John’s College, Cambridge University, and continued his professional education at Stanford Business School, Wharton School of Business, and the Chartered Insurance Institute. He also speaks several languages.”

Mark de Saram, Everest Re CEO was quoted saying: “A professional of his calibre and experience is quite unique. His strong background and expertise will be instrumental in the continued success of our organisation. I look forward to working with Andrew in his initial role in Europe, as well as other areas of the organisation.

“He is a superb addition to the Everest team.”
