Bluebird Box show and auction benefits the Bermuda Society of Arts, bluebirds and the Island’s gardens

Bluebirds are associated with hope, happiness and love — and we can all probably use a little more of that in our lives.

The best way to attract more of the cerulean blue creatures into your backyard or garden is to set up a bluebird box.

And Bermuda Society of Arts is urging people not to settle on a simple, wooden box, when they can bid on the prettiest one around at its Bluebird Box Show and Auction tonight.

Fifty hand painted bluebird boxes, which have been decorated by Bermuda’s artists, will be available at a live auction from 5pm until 7pm.

Lesley Rego, the gallery director, encouraged people to place their bids so they can “become the proud owner of a very special and unique work of art”.

“We will be serving pink bubbly to everyone who registers to bid in the live auction, so come early to avoid the rush,” she said.

“Don’t miss this fabulous sale that not only benefits the Bermuda Society of Arts, but will help our local bluebirds find new and beautiful habitats in your gardens.

“You will be amazed at the creative way the artists have used their imaginations — the sky’s the limit!”

Doors open tonight at 4.30pm.
