Dear Sir,

This is one of those times I am most appreciative of being able to write under a pen name. If you dare to take exception to any of the drivel being posited by the callers to Rot 102 and identify yourself publicly you may do so at your own peril mentioned by a former PLP Premier.

While I certainly agree with the sentiments of another writer who calls himself Sydney, I do not believe that Rot 102 and its hostess should be thrown of the air. This of course would be a breach of free speech which I cannot support. As it is customary for the “best callers in the world” to lampoon any and every initiative brought forward by the government, and slay anyone verbally that dares to disagree with them, they should be prepared to accept as good as they give out.

The combined opposition of the PLP/102 has its reign of verbal rubbish by the queen of talk radio, and the best callers in the world, and they are all family, go figure!

Government ministers are routinely ridiculed and dismissed by the power of the open microphone with scant a charge of disrespect if the same derision were meted out to shadow ministers. The leader of “this family” as they are referred to, reserves the right to even call people asinine if she feels the object of her criticism is deserving.

Letters to the editor are cherry picked for special denunciation if they approve of the government, and choose to lambaste the Opposition, and the “best callers in the world” and they all say amen in religious accord.

Sir, it is a fact that callers who do not normally identify themselves after making the most inflammatory remarks, even making references to riots, are allowed to say such things with impunity, and with no charge of cowardice.

The combined Opposition of PLP/102 have found a way to commandeer the public discourse most effectively, notwithstanding that they are, for the most part, just flat out wrong! This band of fanatics must not be dismissed as simply harmless, and exercising their rights to free speech.

This freedom is to be enjoyed and used by all of us responsibly, to this end we must return fire to dispel the half truths and spin by misinformed people who are potentially dangerous. It is time to return fire not by being personal, hateful, and not with racial prejudice, but with reasoned and correct information.

Write your objections, and call in to challenge the misinformation that the radio mania of the combined Opposition of the PLP/102 is effectively using to get the failed PLP reelected. The loyal band of PLP faithful enjoy using any amount of sarcasm, repudiation and very energetic condemnation of the OBA, but they bristle when their opponents return fire.

They were recently riled up by the opinion of a former OBA senator for so called insulting remarks as they chose to term them.

The call for a boycott of her business was called for! A public member, and supporter of the OBA, who had the temerity to criticise and repudiate the PLP. Her opinions both resonated and irritated depending on your political view point.

How dare she exercise her democratic right? I choose not to sign my name as my views will not be the issue. What matters is the ability to excoriate and attack the messenger personally if they disagree and sign their name to it.

How sad!
