Man handcuffed after incident outside courtroom
A man was led away in handcuffs after being subdued by security officers in Magistrates’ Court.
After exiting Courtroom Four, the unidentified man was confronted by security who said they had been asked by police to stop him. The man then returned to the courtroom, shouting at Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo: “Your worship, people are trying to fight me, people are harassing me out here.”
The man then exited the court again, followed by court bailiffs and members of court services.
Remonstrating loudly with a growing crowd around him, the man tried to enter the court once again, but was stopped by police officers, at which point he became even more agitated, requiring around seven assorted security officers, policemen, and court services personnel to subdue him before being led away in handcuffs.
Court Services declined to comment on the incident.
