Adding insult to injury

December 2, 2013

Dear Sir,

I was involved in my first road traffic accident in Bermuda yesterday. I was the victim of a rear end accident and sustained injuries. I was given a short yellow sheet of paper at the accident with the parties names, insurance companies and a short description of location of the visible damage on the car. I received nothing about my statement given to the police office on scene, the location of the accident, who was at fault or an acknowledgment of my injuries at the scene. I was told I would receive this the following day.

When I tried to get a copy of a police report as the victim in the accident the next day, I was informed that I would have to pay $100 to read the police report. To pay $100 for the initial accident report for a victim is outrageous! I was injured, my car left damaged and to add insult to injury, I have to go to the police station to pay $100 to have a copy of the report. Bermuda ...…it’s another world.
