The following is a clarification by Belco spokesperson, Susan McGrath-Smith about the practice of posting signs on its utility poles.BELCO does not allow signs or any other materials to be posted on its utility poles, which are private property, unless permission has been sought and an agreement signed.Posting materials without permission is encroaching on private property.BELCO’s encroachment policy takes into account public safety and the safety of our workers who may require access to the poles.Anyone who has posted materials on utility poles without permission is doing so illegally, and is advised to remove the materials immediately.Susan McGrath-SmithCorporate Communications Officer, Ascendant Group Limited
