Charges against a Southampton man accused in connection with the death of his aunt were dropped by prosecutors yesterday.Paul Anthony Defontes, 48, was charged with manslaughter last November in connection to the death of 62-year-old Patricia Diane Roque. The offence was said to have taken place on July 23, several days before her death.The matter was set to return to Magistrates’ Court yesterday for a preliminary inquiry, but the court heard the Crown was no longer seeking to prosecute the defendant. No explaination was given for the decision.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo told Mr Defontes that the Crown could still seek to continue the matter, but for the time being the case would not go ahead.
