Man survives fall from Flanagan’s balcony

A 39-year-old Pembroke man is recovering in hospital after falling from the balcony of Flanagan’s Pub on Front Street.Revellers who were at the bar during the early hours of Sunday told The Royal Gazette the man had been leaning over the eastern side of the balcony and looking down when he slipped and fell one storey to the pavement.The victim was out celebrating with his girlfriend, but hadn’t appeared to be intoxicated, a witness said.“All I saw was the aftermath, when he was lying on the ground. He was unresponsive for a while, but he was embarrassed and wanted to get up when the medics arrived.”Police and first responders attended at 1.15am.According to bystanders, the victim sustained broken arms. Police yesterday reported he was in King Edward VII Memorial in stable condition. Witnesses are asked to contact Pc Rajiv Bailey at 295-0011.
