The City of Hamilton is offering lesser known artists a chance to step into the limelight as part of the annual City Arts Festival.“We wanted to reach a broader part of the population,” said Kevin Smith, Arts Festival co-ordinator. “We never had an artist competition before, so this will be a new element.”The theme is Colours, Sights and Sounds of Bermuda. Prizes will be given to best overall artist, the runner-up and people's choice.The overall winner will get $1,000 and an exhibition at the Bermuda Society of Arts. The prize also gives free membership to the BSoA and the Bermuda National Gallery. Artists must be over 18 in order to enter.
