Trio’s South Africa cycle tour to raise funds for charity
A Bermudian team will next week be competing in a South African cycle tour in an effort to raise funds for FoodBank.Neil de Ste Croix, Horst Finkbeiner and Greg Reid will be taking part in the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour — the world’s largest individually times cycle event.Mr Croix said the team is now working to raise donations to FoodBank, a South African charity dedicated to combating food shortages.“Twenty percent of South African households — a staggering 11 million people — have inadequate access to clean food,” he said.“FoodBank has already donated an estimated 50 million meals to people who need the support and continues to donate food to over 1,000 other community-based organisations countrywide.“Already a great supporter of local charities, our team felt the need to extend our efforts out into the world.”He said that the team has already found a private donor willing to match whatever total “Team Bermuda” raises up to $28,400.Those interested in donating can do so by visiting: www.foodbank.org.za/can-you-help/financial-donation, mention Bermuda, and send a follow up e-mail to keri@foodbank.org.za to confirm your donation.
