Politics driving the march

February 26, 2013Dear Sir,May I comment on the upcoming march on Parliament? It appears as if the reason for the march is a non-issue. The work term limit policy has been discussed and the general feeling is that it had a negative affect on the job market. Many job creators in the international business sector have publicly stated that it was hindering their ability to operate. They did not see the necessity of having to hire another expatriate when they already had someone here. The policy was an inconvenience to them and at the same time increased their cost. We now have seen the effect as the IB leaves our shores. This has led to Bermudians losing employment as the trickledown affect takes hold.So the question we must ask ourselves is what is the real reason for this march? Could it be that the PLP/BIU are so upset at losing the recent election they will try to motivate their supporters to promote their agenda. An agenda which is only to see them regain the Government. What happens if this march results in further hardship to the people the PLP/BIU say they are trying to help? Should foreign investors and IB view this in a negative light? Will the actions of the protesters lead to the potential investment going elsewhere? We must work together to promote a climate that encourages investment, where all of us will benefit.Bermuda is in a dire situation at this time and we must think what is the best for us and our children and not be used as political pawns in someone else’s quest for power!CHANGERSandys
