It is only reasonable
February 2, 2013Dear Sir,This letter was sent to the Governor and copied to The Royal Gazette.Your Excellency,I note from today’s paper, the unions are objecting to term limits, because they wish to protect Bermudian jobs. This is fine if there are sufficient qualified Bermudians to do the jobs; however, this is not the case. I think it would only be fair for the British Government to turn around and tell all of the Bermudians in Britain that they have term limits there. I do know of a couple of Bermudians who not only do not have a job but are living off the welfare system and getting social security benefits without having even paid into the system. We have Bermudian footballers who are doing well in Great Britain. They are doing a British football player out of a job, so it is only reasonable that they should only be allowed to live there and play for a maximum of three years if there is a qualified British player who can do the job. May I suggest you approach the British Government to review their policies not only concerning Bermudians but other nationalities as well?ANTONY SIESE
