No monopoly to govern
December 19, 2012Dear Sir,It will come as no surprise my absolute delight at the outcome of election 2012 and a much deserved victory for the One Bermuda Alliance. They prosecuted a magnificent war strategy with surgical precision and a scalpel applied with design to heal a wounded country. Hopefully now we can find our way back from ‘Plantation’ politics and race baiting. Sir, it is difficult for me to exercise largesse and not gloat over our opponents humbling defeat, when you consider the insults and rubbish over a so-called secret report and black surrogates which became the epicentre of the Progressive Labour Party’s ill thought out focus for a winning solution.Never mind the serious issues which confronts this community! How marvellous it is to contemplate real hope and mature direction for recovery for us all notwithstanding the reality of no perfection or absolute utopia. I understand that my love for this country is no deeper than that of my fellow Bermudians who have undying affection for the PLP, but the day belongs to the OBA and we will not be denied our time to relish our victory! It is most satisfying to slay your opponent’s general and take out two of his high ranking officers while sacking their most beloved Butler who, by the way, I have affection for. No one has the right or monopoly to govern and to my beloved OBA beware, we are expecting no miracles but the delivery of good governance. The days ahead are fraught with challenge and serious difficulties, but with a better crew on the bridge we anticipate a successful voyage through the waters of unemployment, the economy and our crippling debt, to name a few.Restoration of a Bermuda friendly to our business partners and customers is essential and therein lies the hard task ahead. Well congratulations to the OBA and Premier Craig Cannonier. How sweet it is. Merry Christmas family and thank you for Standing UP, may the blessings of the Incarnation be yours in what is intended to be a Holy Season of sober reflection. Hooray!WAYNE B SCOTTWhat is union
