Selfish shoppers
November 21, 2012Dear Sir,Regarding all the complaints I am hearing of late about cars being clamped due to overstaying a few minutes. Get over it. Everyone knows the allotted times be it one, two or three hours. It’s no secret. If you overstay, you pay. The regulations are clearly sign posted. What is wrong is the rampant and blatant misuse of the parking facilities by selfish persons who park their cars all day in short term car parks by repeatedly “topping up” their metres or vouchers. I cite the No 1 car park as an example. In the past week I have made three attempts to park there on three different days.As I circled around and around I have watched up to three and four persons walk into the car park and renew their payments. Now we know that the gentlemen who do the clamping hang out in the lots on the lookout for offenders who exceed their time. They can also see these other offenders, but they ignore it. Could it be that the $100 clamping fee is quick and easy cash for the Corporation but moving people on to allow others to park doesn’t realise extra funds? There is plenty of all day parking in the City. We all know where it is. So much for shopping in Bermuda.M COXDevonshire
