Will not be fooled or deceived

November 18, 2012Dear Sir,I’ve listened to what has been said so far and apart from some ill-defined and uncosted ideas from the Progressive Labour Party all they seem to be doing is asking the One Bermuda Alliance what they plan to do. From a government that has been in power for 14 years, it is more than a little frightening that all they can do is attack others ideas, yet have none of their own. The PLP got us into this social and financial mess where thousands of Bermudians are unemployed or underemployed, with the numbers growing weekly, something none of us experienced just a few years ago. The PLP have defended their policies and financial record by comparing themselves to the most poorly run countries in the world. Many of our neighbours to the west and south were hardly touched by the global recession and those that were are now enjoying growth, unlike Bermuda that is likely to soon enter its fourth straight year of recession. Is the PLP election strategy to wait until a few days before the election and again offer election giveaways to buy votes, knowing as before that their “gifts” cannot be paid for in the long-term and will likely be withdrawn soon after the counting is complete. We have been there before and I would hope that the electorate will not be fooled or deceived again. I want to hear what the OBA plans to do to try and get our economy moving in the right direction and what they plan to do to encourage leaders to create jobs, but more importantly, I want to know what the PLP will do, if anything, to turn things around. I have heard nothing yet except the PLP’s empty promises and spin and that they are “standing strong” for Bermuda. A little late for that as Bermuda is weaker now than it has ever been under the control of the current PLP governmentI NEED SOMETHING TO BELIEVE INPembroke
