Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Patrice Minors

Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Patrice Minors has offered to issue temporary work permits immediately for Bermuda international businesses needing to relocate staff to Bermuda because of Superstorm Sandy. In a statement last night Ms Minors said she had reached out to the Association of Business Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) and the Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC), to determine if member companies needed to bring staff to Bermuda for business continuity purposes in the short-term.“Our aim is to support and assist those international businesses that have a presence in Bermuda as best we can,” Ms Minors said.“Our proximity to the [US] East Coast makes it an obvious choice for short-term relocations where there is a need. Any work permits required will be issued immediately to ensure that we help the companies achieve their business continuity objectives.”
