We are destroying tourism
September 16, 2012Dear Sir,It seems we are determined to do our best to discourage tourism in Bermuda. Passengers on cruise ships must get the shock of their lives when they experience a group of policemen with large dogs sniffing around, and demanding entry into people’s private cabins on the suspicion that there might be drugs in the room. This last case was a fiasco, two poor unfortunates brought before the court because three half smoked reefers were found in their cabin, in the safe of all places. How dreadfully embarrassing, and how unnecessary.I am surprised that the cruise ships allow it, as passengers on board are the responsibility of the cruise line, and it is none of our business. We should remember that smoking marijuana is legal in some states in America, and it is highly unlikely that this unfortunate couple were planning to smoke while ashore. Personally I am in favour of legalising soft drugs in small quantities for personal use; it would certainly make a difference to the crime rate.E RABENPaget
