OBA leader pays tribute to Major Chris Wheddon
Opposition leader Craig Cannonier added his name to the list of tributes for Bermuda Regiment Major Christian Wheddon.Major Wheddon lost his life in an car crash in the UK on Sunday.In a statement, Mr Cannonier said the soldier’s death “robbed the Wheddon family of a much-loved son, brother, husband and father”.“It has robbed Bermuda of someone who was likely to make a substantial contribution to the well-being of the community,” said Mr Cannonier.“He was obviously destined for great things in the Regiment. I would like to add my voice to the chorus of regret at the sad and untimely passing of Major Chris Wheddon.“Hopefully, the fine example he set as an officer will be followed by those who are to walk in his footsteps,” he said.Mr Cannonier extended his deepest sympathy to Major Wheddon’s family, friends and to his colleagues in the Bermuda Regiment on behalf of the One Bermuda Alliance.
