Man jailed for threatening his mum

A 25-year-old Warwick man is in police custody for threatening to slap his mother just a day after being charged with threatening her.Darren Anglin was ordered on Thursday to avoid any contact with Paulette Anglin, after denying charges of detaining her and uttering threatening words on March 18. Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released him on bail. However, brought back to court yesterday morning, Anglin pleaded guilty to breaking bail conditions. The court heard that at 8am yesterday, Anglin approached his mother outside her workplace, demanding his clothing from the house. He then told her: “I feel like slapping you.”According to Crown counsel Tawana Tannock, Ms Anglin also told police her son had threatened to go to her house and break the windows and door to gain access.Anglin told Mr Tokunbo: “All I did was ask for clothes and she wouldn’t let me, so I became upset.”“You were told to stay away from her,” Mr Tokunbo replied and remanded Anglin in custody. He will be held until his trial in May for the March 18 offences. At his initial appearance in court on Thursday, the court heard that Anglin had also been on bail for stealing and assault at the time of his first charges.Asked where he was living, the accused told the court he was staying with his girlfriend, prompting Mr Tokunbo to remark: “Poor her.”
