The Department of Tourism has been voted one of the world’s best at accommodating corporate and association meetings, trade shows and incentive travel programmes by an American magazine.It is the 20th time the Island has received a Gold Service Award from subscribers of Meetings & Conventions, a publication for meeting planners and professionals. Director of Tourism Billy Griffith said in a statement: “We are incredibly honoured and excited that Meetings & Conventions’ readers have selected Bermuda for the 2011 Gold Service Award.“Our group sales department takes great pride in highlighting what the Island has to offer for planners, from proximity and top-notch meeting space to a range of accommodations and diverse attractions for groups to explore.”A Tourism statement said the supplement announcing the industry’s best is used throughout the year by subscribers planning meetings, incentives and conventions. Bermuda is a member of the Meetings & Conventions’ Gold Service Hall of Fame, because it has won more than 12 Gold Awards.
