Tropical storm Jose passes Bermuda

Red flags and warning signs covered Horseshoe Bay this afternoon as lifeguards Gregory Surer and James Adams stood duty as the Island came under the influence of Tropical Storm Jose.

Tropical Storm Jose has now passed Bermuda.At 6pm, the storm was 71 nautical miles northwest of Bermuda moving north at 15 knots.Maximum winds were 40 knots gusting to 50 knots.The Bermuda Weather Service said Jose's closest of approach was at 3pm when the storm was 51 nautical miles to the west of the Island.Winds are expected to ease this evening but a small craft warning remains in effect.The weather for the rest of the week is expected to be unsettled.See The Royal Gazette's Weather page for more information.
