Clean up Bermuda
July 19, 2011Dear Sir,Forty-five years ago my husband and I honeymooned on your beautiful island. We returned this month to celebrate our anniversary. The charm that distinguishes Bermuda and attracts visitors from all over the world is still there. You are welcoming, confident and educated people and speak intelligently and proudly of your homeland. The biggest change and our only disappointment was with the trash you have allowed to accumulate along your roadsides and in bus stops — not just paper litter but bottles and cans from alcoholic and other beverages. Where is the pride we remember and honour you for? Please adopt a recycling programme, a contest for children, or a return of a few cents per bottle as an incentive to motivate people to restore your island to its perfection.CAROL E HENDERSONHuntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania
