July 2, 2011Dear Sir,Many PLP supporters are already saying that the OBA is just the UBP in a different set of clothing. Same people, same ideas.The same PLP supporters also claim that the PLP Government’s operational terms are no longer viewed as “business as usual”. The PLP have changed to a caring, responsible Government. As usual there is no substance to the statement and no evidence based upon recent multimillion dollar giveaways and an additional $145 million of borrowing to pay the operating expenses of Government this year. No long term value there but the PLP politicians have “changed”, believe me.I had a look at who is still in Government for the PLP and know what; it’s mostly the same people. Same people, same ideas.If the OBA is the old UBP, then by the same argument, the old PLP is the new PLP. Same people, same ideas? I believe that both groups have changed but that the primary policies of the PLP and their proven inexperience in management across the entire spectrum of government is plain for all to see. A few minor successes cannot make up for years of waste. The wasted lives of students who have failed to be educated, the continued loss or valuable air arrival tourists, the loss of the job makers, who now take their business elsewhere and the unbelievable debt that has been established for future generations to try and pay off. Those most vulnerable are hurting the most, they are the core PLP supporters who have blindly put their faith in a Government who have failed them. Like it or not, Bermuda rose to success under the UBP; its decline has been managed quite successfully by our PLP Governments, and our current Premier and long term Finance Minister.Same people, same ideas?
