Change is in the air

May 18, 2011Dear Sir,I am very excited about the formation of the OBA. It has shown what many Bermudians have been thirsting to see ... putting Bermuda before Party. Too many times we have seen what was necessary for Bermuda be neglected or voted against because of party affiliation. We have seen a PLP government standing behind and backing individuals who were blatantly disrespecting fellow Bermudians and totally mismanaging this country’s finances.Bermudians, it is time to stop voting under the mindset of “my parents voted this way, or my friend is for this party so I will too”. We must vote for the people who demonstrate the traits that we know in our minds and hearts are for Bermuda’s best interests. It is time to show elected officials that there is no such thing as a “safe seat”. No seat should be safe while Bermuda is in the state that it is in. I believe that the OBA has already taken a large step in the right direction by swallowing pride, erasing old mentalities and adopting a mindset of change/accountability.There is always talk of “sustainable development” in regards to Bermuda. What better way to sustain a country then to embrace its young people, the future. The torch cannot be kept aglow if it is not passed to the next generation. I think you will find the OBA is very willing to embrace all people for the advancement for what is best for Bermuda. I can vouch for this myself as I already have been embraced by this new and dynamic party. I encourage everyone to give the OBA a chance. Come and see what they have to offer. Do not let change cause you fear, but cause you excitement! All the best to the OBA for the betterment of this island that is so much in need of good leadership.ROBERT DAVIESDevonshire
