May 16, 2011Dear Sir,I was horrified and reacted in disbelief when I heard in your newspaper that Dame Jennifer, the Minister of Education from St George, had said principals and teachers are breaking the law!!Because your paper is so often slandered as inaccurate, Mr Editor, I went to the Department of Education to see if what she said was true. Guess what. Here is a quote from them: “She told the House of Assembly that headmasters were breaking the law by dishing out suspensions when they felt like it. And she urged principals to stop suspending pupils for ‘the wrong reasons’ relatively minor matters such as disrupting class or using profane language.”The Minister Dame Jennifer Smith speaks for the whole Cabinet and the Premier and this Education Minister is making the situation worse not better by attacking the people that are taking care of our children.If this is the elitist attitude we are going to have, disrespect will continue and the PLP Government has no one to blame but themselves.
