Toronto team tops in Bermuda Open
TKO Toronto will leave Bermuda with the 2010 Bermuda Open title and a 100 percent record after beating Schroders Bermuda in four sets in an exciting championship match on Saturday afternoon at the Warwick Academy gym.
TKO saw off all challengers and beat the local side 25-21,25-21, 18-25,25-17 in the final to claim the title.
They also beat Bermuda in the round-robin phase.
St. John's Krunchers defeated Downstate New York in the third-place match.
Adam Barboza from the Department of Tourism was on hand to present the awards to the winning teams.
Based on votes from the opposing team collected throughout the tournament, Kelly Sinclair from Toronto was awarded MVP of the tournament.
The local side won't have time to rest after the tournament with the side scheduled to travel to Boston to compete in the Boston Beanpot Tournament at MIT this coming weekend.
