Bermuda international Tyrell Burgess starred during Vancouver Whitecaps' 4-2 victory against Puerto Rico Islanders at Swangard Stadium on Saturday.
In a match that took over four hours to complete because of severe thunderstorms, winger Burgess was responsible for creating two of the defending USL-D1 champions' goals.
Burgess' corner from the left was inadvertently headed into his own goal by Puerto Rico defender Kyle Veris to give Whitecaps a two-goal lead. Later in the game Burgess played a fine cross into the Islanders box for an unmarked Marcus James to head home to make the score 4-1.
The 23-year-old has made eight appearances for Whitecaps so far this season.
