Butterfield Bank dropped 3.44 percent (five cents) to $1.40 on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank traded 2,500 shares during the day.

Elsewhere the Ascendant Group Ltd. rose 1.44 percent (20 cents) to $14, as 100 shares changed hands.

The Index, as a whole, fell 22.16 points (1.78 percent) to 1,220.82, with 2,600 shares worth $4,900 transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index shed 25 points (2.62 percent) to close at 928.
