Stevens-Carty stars in 800m
Senior Boys Front Street Mile champion Henry Stevens-Carty continued his rich vein of form at the Atlanta Track Club All-Comer Meet in the 800m at Emory University.
Stevens-Carty, 16, won in stunning fashion on Tuesday, using the front-runner to set the pace before exploding in the latter stages to claim top honours.
Sitting back in second place in the heat the local youngster blew past the leader to win in a time of one minute, 57.79 seconds.
Stevens-Carty, who lives in Atlanta and attends school in Georgia, also won the 1600m at the Atlanta Distance Carnival in Douglasville, Georgia, late last month in a time of four minutes, 28.74 seconds.
The time was also 18 seconds faster then his time in the Front Street Mile.
With the running season having just got underway, Stevens-Carty will undoubtedly be pleased with his start after he declared this to be his year after winning his maiden Front Street Mile title.
He represented Bermuda at Carifta in the 1500m where he made it to the finals, while also qualifying for the World Youth Championships in Italy later this summer.
