Despite budget cuts and diminished expectations, millions attended this year's Tall Ships event in Boston.

More than three million people are believed to have attended the five day celebration, which ended with the ships including the Spirit of Bermuda leaving Boston Harbour on Monday.

A total of 45 Tall Ships attended the event and the fleet's next stop is Halifax, Nova Scotia, where they will stay until they make the second Atlantic crossing of the race to the final destination, Belfast, in Northern Ireland.
