Monday's action saw Sharpe and Aitken racing their main favourites event, the 100 metres backstroke, but neither were able to reach their personal best. Female Sports Award winner Aitken, however, came within three tenths of her best time and was well within the qualifying time for the last Olympics.

Fletcher took third in his 50 metres breaststroke heat and although failing to advance to the semi-finals, he shaved a full second off the Bermuda national record.

Yesterday Burch and Thomson were scheduled to compete in the 100m freestyle while Aitken and Sharpe were in the 50m backstroke line-up.
