South Kent coach awarded

South Kent School (SKS) athletic director Owen Finberg, who actively recruits players from Bermuda, has been recognised as one of the 2008 NSCAA/ADIDAS regional coaches of the year.

Bermudians Jesse Seymour, Dominique Williams, Khimo Harrison and Tahj Bell were all members of the SKS team that won the New England Championship last season under Finberg.

Finberg, who has won multiple awards for outstanding coaching in his career, was named the NSCAA high school boys division New England region coach of the year for his efforts with his South Kent School players.

Finberg was also honoured recently by the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association (CSCA) as the 2008 small school prep Coach of the Year.

He had previously received that honour in 2006. He also received the Thomas E. Krusewski Memorial Award as outstanding young coach for 2008 from the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association for 2008.

South Kent won the Class B New England championship this year, the team's second New England championship in the last three years.

The team also won the Ray Brown Cup as the best team during the regular season in Western New England.
