Slayton leaves...four years to the day

US Consul General Gregory Slayton will be leaving his position on August 15, four years to the day after he was first signed in.

During his term Mr. Slayton was credited with strengthening Bermuda's relationship with its closest neighbour, the US.

In a press release, Mr. Slayton said: "It's been a very busy and productive four years, and we are deeply grateful to all of our many friends and partners here in Bermuda.

"May God bless the ever-growing partnership between Bermuda and the United States through the years and centuries to come."

A spokesperson for the US Consulate said that Mr. Slayton would be spending his last few days saying farewell to the leaders who he has worked with for the last four years.
