Auditions set to begin for Singing for Success series
A new round of auditions is set to kick off tomorrow for people who want to take part in the Singing for Success series – and sing in the final alongside American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino.
Kevin Bean, founder of KDB Entertainment and The Success Series, said the auditions would take place at CedarBridge Academy in the music room at 11 a.m. and at 6.30 p.m. for Seventh Day Adventists.
Mr. Bean told The Royal Gazette that he had made provision for the Adventists, as he felt that everyone should be able to benefit.
When asked what should candidates do to prepare for tomorrow's auditions, Mr. Bean said: "I would advise all potential participants to jump on the opportunity to learn as much as they can about the business and their craft.
"They should feel completely relaxed going into the audition, as no one will be criticised at all, but everyone will leave feeling as though the information gained from the workshop will be invaluable to their future.
"Finally, potential participants should not assume that they may not make it as a result of seeing 'named' talent sign up as well. One never knows what the judges are looking for."
He added: "Everyone is asked to prepare two songs of their choice with one being an acapella and the other being an accompanied piece."
Mr. Bean said he did not know how many people would turn up for the auditions, but said he hoped as many people as possible would go as they were looking for the best six voices to represent Bermuda in November
During last year's auditions, he saw an average of about 25 people at the auditions and he added: "I think that is a good place to start."
For the Singing for Success winners, he said: "After we choose the top six finalists from this audition, they will compete for the part scholarship to Berklee School of Music on March 29 at the Fairmont Southampton.
"In addition all six finalists will travel on a five-city tour of the US in November."
