A man was flown by air ambulance to hospital after falling 60 feet into a ballast tank while working on a tanker 800 miles off Bermuda.
The Ukranian national, said to be in his 20s, was working onboard the Bahamian flag ship Butterfly when the incident occurred early Saturday morning.
The man was initially thought to be in stable condition by the United States Coast Guard flight surgeon and plans were made to divert the tanker to Bermuda so he could be treated.
However, his health deteriorated. Yesterday, the US Coast Guard dispatched a C-130 plane and a HH60 helicopter to transport the man to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
