Parliamentary questions tabled on Southlands
Opposition Senator Michael Fahy has asked Government for answers on whether Southlands will become a national park.
Sen. Fahy also asked for information on the status of the land swap with Morgan's Point and how much the remediation clean-up at the former US base land will cost.
He submitted the following Parliamentary Questions to Junior Minister of Tourism and the Environment, Senator Marc Bean, in the Senate:
What is the status of the land swap deal in which Government has proposed that Southlands Ltd. is to get approximately 80 acres of land at the property known as 'Morgan's Point' in exchange for approximately 37 acres of land at the property known as 'Southlands'?
If the land swap deal in regards to the properties known as 'Southlands' and the land at the property known as 'Morgan's Point' is completed, will the property known as 'Southlands' be re-zoned as National Park and Open Space Reserve to reflect the stated intention of the Government?
What is the current estimated cost to the Government of Bermuda for environmental clean-up at the property known as 'Morgan's Point'?
