British tourist robbed at gunpoint

A British woman was robbed — apparently at gunpoint — by two men on a motorcycle in the early hours of Saturday.

Police reported that the 31-year-old visitor to the Island was walking along Richmond Road, near the Robin Hood Pub, in Pembroke, at about 3.45 a.m. when she was accosted.

A Police spokesman said: "One of the men brandished what appeared to be a firearm and demanded the visitor's possessions, before both suspects made good their escape."

He said the pair fled west along Richmond Road, taking the woman's handbag, containing cash and personal items, with them.

"The 31-year-old visitor was not injured," said the spokesman. "Inquiries into this incident are under way."

The main suspect was about 5ft 10in, slim and was wearing dark clothing and a black helmet without a visor.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident should call the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
