Man is robbed at gunpoint

A 26-year-old man has been robbed at gunpoint the latest in a string of gun-related incidents this year.

On Tuesday the victim was walking along Rose Hill Street, at the St. George's Club, at around 8.15 p.m., when he was approached by two men, one wielding what appeared to be a firearm.

A Police spokesman said: "The men demanded cash, with one of them removing the victim's wallet, which held cash and personal items, and a BlackBerry cellular phone before the men made good their escape on foot towards the golf course." The victim was not injured.

Police describe the main suspect as a slim man around 5ft 11in, while the second man was around 5ft 9in.

Both robbers were wearing dark hooded jackets and dark pants, and appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s.

The Police have already arrested one suspect, a 21-year-old Smith's man, in connection with the incident, but they are appealing for anyone with more information to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit or Crime Stoppers.
