Last chance for Front Street Mile hopefuls

Today is the final day for athletes to enter the KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile time trials during which they can qualify for the showcase races on Front Street at the start of January's Bermuda International Race Weekend.

The fastest 20 qualifiers who run under eight minutes in the time trials will be invited to take part in the Front Street races on January 15.

The races will be divided into primary school, middle school, senior school, over-18 men and over-18 women categories. The trials take place on Friday, December 4 and Sunday, December 6 at the National Sports Centre track.

Online entries can be made at www.bermudatiming.bm.

Entry forms can also be downloaded from the Bermuda Timing Services website or collected at Sportseller in Washington Mall. The forms should be dropped off at Sportseller in the Washington Mall in Hamilton or KPMG at Crown House in Par-La-Ville Road by this afternoon.

¦ This weekend will see the annual Bermuda Track and Field Half-Marathon and 10K road race and walk take place, starting and finishing in Bermudiana Road.

The event is presented by Ashlan Clinic and part proceeds will go to the Bermuda Cancer & Heath Centre. The races are being used to help promote prostate cancer awareness.

Entry forms can be completed online at www.raceday.bm or www.bermudatiming.bm and returned to Sportseller, International Sports Shop in Bermudiana Road or Ashlan Sports in the International Centre, Bermudiana Road no later than this Friday. Late entries will be available on Saturday.
