Regiment Change of Command ceremony tomorrow

Major Brian Gonsalves will officially become the new Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment in a change-of-command ceremony at Warwick Camp tomorrow.

The Sword of Command will be passed to Maj. Gonsalves from Lt. Col. William White, who has been in the position since 2006. Maj. Gonsalves, known as a disciplinarian, joined the Regiment in 1988 and was commissioned in 1989 after passing out from The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, UK.

His career since then has included a spell as the first member of the Bermuda Regiment to be part of the International Military Advisory Training Team in Sierra Leone in 2001. Tomorrow's ceremony is open to the public; those wishing to attend should arrive at Warwick Camp no later than 4.30 p.m. and be seated by 4.45 p.m.
