Fundraiser will recreate life aboard Queen of Bermuda

To most the Queen of Bermuda is a distant memory, but tomorrow it will be resurrected for a special fundraising night at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.

To help raise money for the Museum organisers are hosting 'An Evening Onboard the Queen of Bermuda' casino night fundraiser tomorrow.

"The current 'We Are Sailing' exhibit explores Bermuda's ties with the sea over the past 400 years, and a big part of that history was the sailing of the Queen of Bermuda between here and New York," said museum director Tom Butterfield.

"We have some great video footage of the Queen and also memorabilia from her many voyages on display, and we thought it would be fun to try and recreate an evening like many of the passengers onboard the ship would have experienced."

No money will be exchanged on the night, instead guests will be playing for prizes with chips and those that win the most chips have a chance to win prizes. Organising committee member Carolyn Toogood said: "Please join us for what promises to be really fun evening.

"Bring your dancing shoes and your gambling hats and let's have some fun supporting such an important part of Bermuda's art community."

Tickets for the event cost $85, and are available in advance from Masterworks on 236-2950.

The event starts at 8 p.m. to midnight.
