A new course in event production has been launched to promote musicians and entertainment.

The six-week project is being organised by the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs following requests from people within the industry. It is being run through the Community Education and Development Programme.

Heather Whalen, Senior Community and Cultural Affairs Officer, said in a statement: "As part of the Department's ongoing work to support and promote musicians and entertainment in Bermuda, we are delighted to sponsor this very relevant and skills-based course."

Those being targeted include musicians looking to learn more about promoting their own acts and individuals hoping to produce music and entertainment events.

It will feature speakers with experience in Bermuda's music and entertainment industry, covering topics such as concept design and planning, technical aspects of event production, creating brand identity, marketing, budgeting, venue selection, soliciting sponsors and working with local vendors.

The lecture series will run every Tuesday until June 2 at CedarBridge Academy from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. To register, call 292-7735.
