Police are urging motorists to slow down following a reported 18 road accidents in which people were injured in the space of a week.

Officers are also asking motorists to ensure they use seatbelts and strap helmets on properly.

Police also recorded another 49 road accidents during the seven-day period of Monday, September 29 and Monday, October 6. In that week, three people were also arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving and 18 vehicles – including three cars – were stolen.

Two of the cars have been found.
