Man fined for having cocaine
A Sandys man who has been in and out of jail for the past 29 years admitted to possession of cocaine yesterday in Magistrates' Court.
Anthony Webster Swan, 48, was charged with the offences which took place September 17.
The court heard from Crown counsel Maria Sofianos that the defendant was in custody for another matter and Police officers decided to search him and his vehicle which had been impounded.
During the search, Swan said he wanted a cigarette from a Camel box inside of the car. An officer took the pack of cigarettes out of the car and Swan said they belonged to him.
While looking through the pack, the officer found a plastic twist containing white powder. Webster said it was "coke" and said he bought it on 42nd Street for $50.
The substance was analysed and found to be 0.02 grams of cocaine.
The 48-year old received an $800 fine to be paid by January 11.
