Minister's son held in custody

Sports Minister Glenn Blakeney's son was remanded in custody yesterday on charges that he assaulted a Police officer.

Jahmel Blakeney, 28, was arrested early Sunday morning following a fight at Docksiders Pub and Restaurant.

Crown counsel Robert Welling told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner Blakeney had allegedly yelled obscenities at Police as they attempted to intervene.

Yesterday, he was charged with violently resisting arrest, assaulting a Police officer and obstructing an officer from doing his job.

Blakeney, of Stovell Bay Road, Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

He was remanded and will appear in Magistrates' Court again on August 14.
