Birthday teenager remorseful after cursing at Police officer
A teenager spent his 19th birthday in Magistrates' Court after being caught without a seat belt and for cursing at Police.
Ryan Moniz, of Shelly Hall Drive, Hamilton Parish, was stopped by Police around 4.32 p.m. on December 28 on Burnaby Street.
The court heard that Moniz grew irritated with officers and said: "Stupid f***ing Police Officer, hurry up with my f***ing ticket."
The teenager was cautioned, at which point he told Police: "If you want to arrest me, arrest me."
Yesterday in court Moniz pleaded guilty to the offences and argued that it was out of character. "I would like to say it will obviously never happen again," he told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo.
"It was a one time thing. I know how stupid it makes me look... you will never have to see me again."
He was given a conditional discharge for six months for using offensive words and fined $100 and five demerit points for not wearing a seat belt.
