Fashion show to aid Africa hospitals

Fundraising to benefit hospitals in Burundi, Africa continues this weekend with a fashion show featuring clothes by Bermudian designers.

Passport to Paradise has been organised by Project Change: Bermuda, a charity which provides free, reconstructive surgery to persons in need.

Led by plastic surgeon Christopher Johnson, the group has performed surgeries in Bermuda, Ecuador, Burundi, Kenya and Tanzania to improve birth defects and repair injuries.

Passport to Paradise hopes to assist in fundraising for the upcoming mission to Africa Burundi has a population of 8 million and is without public operating facilities.

Approximately 250 guests from the United States, the United Kingdom and several Caribbean islands are expected to travel to Bermuda to attend the show on Sunday night.

Among them: H.R.H. Princess Katrina of Yugoslavia, actress Lynn Whitfield and the cast of DanceBrazil.

Passport to Paradise takes place Sunday, April 19 at City Hall at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.express.bm or at City Hall, 11.30 a.m. until 2.30 p.m. until Saturday.

Tickets are also available at The International Plastic Surgery Associates, located on the second floor of the Sea Venture building, next to Hamilton Pharmacy.

General admission is $25; $35 at the door. Patron tickets are $50.
