Bermuda-based supertanker operator Nordic American Tanker Shipping Ltd yesterday took delivery of the Nordic Vega, a suezmax newbuilding, built at a Far Eastern yard.

The new vessel took Nordic’s fleet up to 19 suezmax vessels, each of approximately 150,000 deadweight tons.

Two of these are newbuildings being built at Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd. These vessels are expected to be delivered in the third and fourth quarters of 2011, respectively. The Nordic Vega will be employed in the spot market through the Gemini Suezmax cooperation.

In a statement, Nordic said no equity issue was under planning. Nordic said it had no net debt.
