A motorcyclist suffered severe head injuries after losing control of his vehicle while overtaking traffic yesterday.

According to a Police spokesman the rider, who has not been identified, was travelling west on North Shore Road, in Pembroke, near Princess Estate when he began to overtake a line of vehicles that had stopped to let a car out of a side road.

However, it appears the rider lost control of the vehicle and crashed the cycle. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
